Süper Lig | Turkey - an overview
The Süper Lig is the top tier of the professional football in Turkey, and the only league that plays across two continents. The clubs are split between Europe and Asia.
The Turkish FA preside over all 18 clubs that play in this league.
All 18 clubs play for both the Turkish Cup and the Turkish Super Cup. The most successful Turkish club is Galatasaray with 22 titles.
There is no promotion from the Süper Lig, but the top team qualifies for the Group Stage of the UEFA Champions League, with the runner up entering the 2nd stage qualifying round. Third and fourth qualify for the Europa League. One further Europa League place is determined by domestic cup competition.
